A Children's Guide to Visiting the Dentist

Even though kids brush their teeth every day, they still have to go to the dentist at least once a year. It's important to keep teeth healthy. But what many people don't know is that the dentist is also a lot of fun! There are three main events at the dentist: dental hygienist, x-ray, and dentist.

The hygienist isn't actually a dentist. This person's job is to clean the teeth until they're smooth and sparkly. They'll usually use some electric tools that make a cool noise. The hygienist uses these to polish the teeth until they're super clean. Then they do the final brushing and flossing before it's x-raying time. The x-ray checks to see if there are any cavities in the teeth. Cavities happen when plaque builds up. Plaque can make tiny holes in the teeth. That's why dentists are so helpful! Last is the meeting with the dentist. This is the main event. The dentist will check the clean teeth and explain any important things to know about cavities. That's it! Going to the dentist is a big step in growing up. It can also be a lot of fun.
