Matt-Mwa Woodworks has created a helpful youtube video demonstrating how to build a standard cabinet. When building cabinets, using the right tools and techniques can make the process quick and stress-free.
Follow the steps below for constructing this cabinet.
Use plywood for the carcasses, backs, and drawer bottoms.
Create notches for the toe kicks using a bandsaw or a jigsaw with a square as a guide.
Proceed using a router bit or a table saw with dado blades to cut grooves on the sides of the carcass, which will house the bottom and back.
Add shelf pinholes before assembling the sides and stretchers using pocket screws as the primary joinery.
Then fit the back of the cabinet using plywood. Hard maple or poplar are suitable materials for face frames, whereas oak, maple, or poplar are ideal for drawers.
Feel free to reference the youtube video. Matt-Mwa uses a nifty trick to install the door to ensure it has a perfect position. To make the installation process of the drawer front easier, screw it in from the front of the drawer utilizing the two holes drilled for the drawer pull. Following these steps, anyone can build beautiful, functional cabinets that will last years.
