A Breakdown of Hardscaping

There are many different ways that you can approach landscaping your yard. There's xeriscaping, actual landscaping, and hardscaping. I bet you can guess which one is probably going to be the best water saver!

Hardscaping is a type of landscaping where dirt and rocks are used to form beautiful backdrops, and gorgeous pathways and restructure the ground to make it more stable for pathways and the like. There are several steps to this process and this video shows it all!

First, you have to dig out the core of what you are going to work with. This means restructuring hills, layering larger stones, and providing a support system for the dirt that forms the base.

Without this support system, heavy rainfall can destroy the work that was done.

Next, workers lay down foundational dirt and pebbles that are going to help hold the top layers of stone, rock, and brick in place. This dirt has to be tamped down and often takes some effort to spread out.

Last, workers create an almost water-like flow using bricks and stone to form waving pathways, seemingly perfect edges, and colorful touches to the area to bring in some life. It's incredible what they can do with the time given!
