Water heaters are essential appliances in our homes, and if not properly maintained, a leaking water heater can lead to unnecessary expenses and unhealthy living conditions. This part is usually made of plastic and is located on the tank's side. An expert will first examine the valve visually to see if this is where the water is coming from. If they notice a leak, they will open the valve and then re-tighten it to see if it is caused by sediment buildup in the tank and if the leak persists, it means that it needs to be replaced. Before replacing it, they have to turn off the water heater. The technician will drain the tank by turning off the cold water inlet valve and connecting a hose to the drain valve. Using a pipe wrench or adjustable pliers, they will remove the current valve and tighten the new valve, clean the valve threads and apply Teflon tape to the new valve threads.
